Challenge

In automatic assembly, the positions of some components have to be measured to be installed correctly. Due to the various colours and shapes of components and backgrounds, position detection can be difficult. However, a faulty positioning causes lengthy down times.

Solution

Omron offers vision systems with a special algorithm that recognizes the position of alignment marks or edges. For instance, the colour filter makes the contrast clear between marks and background, so an unclear mark can be recognized.
